Dikti

DiktiClimbing on mountain Dikti isn't something easy. The long routes, the loose rock, the long (in some routes) access contributes to an absolute adventure.During winter, things are more complicated. Rock, frozen snow and rarely ice lead to the ultimate escape from the daily routin

I have been in Dikti with -8oC only 2,5 hours away from Iraklio where the temperature was 10oC. The contrasts are the advantages of Dikti. Here you can do almost everything.

Dikti, Lasithi Crete

A few words about the climbing area and how to get there. A few words about the climbing area and how to get there. Almost all of the rock and ice (mixed) climbing routes are on the northwest face of Dikti. These are described further down, one by one. The only thing you have to do is to press the right button on your mouse. If you want further details or anything else relevant to Dikti please contact us. Access: From Iraklio head towards the Lasithi plateau up to Kaminaki village, 60km in a good asphalt road. From there you must follow a bad road, for about 10 km, until the Limnakaro plateau (half is dirt track - mud in winter).

For Limnakaro the access can also be done from Saint George (Agios Georgios) village, but in winter there might be some landslides. If your vehicle isn't four wheel drive (4X4) or motorcycle off road and you prefer to leave your vehicle in the plateau of Lasithi then you will have to walk for about 1,5 hours to Limnakaro plateau from E4 path, just outside Agios Georgios or by walking on the road. In winter prefer to spend the night in the chappel, thus avoiding the extra weight of a tent. In summer you can camp close to the end of the dirt-road (that leads to the face).
