Analoukas, Eastern Crete

ANaloukas, Lasithi CreteAnaloukas is located 13 km east of the town of Sitia in Crete, on the way to Vai palm beach. The crags are very close to the sea and they are inside the DIONYSOS VILLAGE hotel grounds. The crags are of conglomerate rocks forming very peculiar shapes, rising abruptly from the ground. There are about 35 single pitch routes on three different crags.

The routes opened from Sotirakis Dimitris. The quality of the rock is not very good and many small pebbles are breaking, so it is a good idea to have a helmet. The rocks are very sharp due to the sea wind erosion. Apart of the existing routes there are many possibilities for new routes and especially for bouldering. All routes are equipped with stainless steel bolts and the belay positions have two bolts, making them ideal for top-rope.

For repeating the routes, 8-10 quickdraws, some slings, and a 50m rope, are necessary. The climate in the area is very mild and it rains occasionally, so climbing is possible during the winter too. In the summer when is very hot, there are many routes that they are under the shadow in the morning or in the afternoon, and most of the times there is a cool sea breeze.
