Hi,

I am flying to Chania for work from July 15-19. I want to stay a few days after and climb, but I do not have a partner. I climb sport up to 8c+. If I cannot find a partner, does anyone know of any deep water soloing or bouldering? Or perhaps something else cool to do on the island?

I was thinking of renting a bike and bicycling around the island if I cant climb, will it be way to hot for that? Would a scooter be a better idea for getting around?

Joe, try to contact with the mountaineering club of Chania. There are a couple of climbers in Chania that can do 8a+, maybe more. Usually you will see them around Therissos gorge.

I contacted the climbing club and am waiting for a reply. I am OK climbing anything, just want it to be not very hot. I can climb anytime between July20-24th. Are you around or know anyone? I was thinking Therissos would be cool because you said it was in the shade and there were some harder routes.

Also, do you know if there is camping anywhere near Chania?

Hi Joe,

I'm guiding sea kayak trips and been very busy this period so can't commit for climbing. I usually know a day before so don't want to promise something that I can't do.

Regarding camping, there are many in Chania but can't comment which one is better as I always do free camping.
