Post subject: climbing near Gavalochori or Sougia
Hi, i am coming to Crete in september and was wondering if anyone could recomend me any climbing places near Gavalochori or Sougia? it would need to be sport climbing and around the 5 to 6b level. i have found a place called Plakias, are there any other spots near where i am going like this? thanks Duncan |

Hi Duncan, The nearest climbing area near Sougia is Therissos gorge. There are plenty routes there (around 120). A big part of the routes have their grade painted on the base of the route and therefore you will be able to find those close to 6b. I've got most of the routes here but without a topo. Hopefully in the upcoming weeks I will add them too. Plakias is also great for climbing and swimming but most of the routes are much higher than 6b. However, there are a few near that grade.
